Modern Tire Dealer Magazine Names 2009 Tire Dealer of the Year

MASSILLON, OHIO (Oct. 26, 2009) – The American automobile industry was still in its infancy when Dover, Ohio’s Ziegler Tire & Supply Co. opened its doors in 1919.
Today celebrating its 90th year in business, Ziegler Tire – now based in Massillon, Ohio – is one of the largest independent tire dealerships in the United States, with 24 locations in four states and nearly $95 million in annual sales.
To expand to its present dimensions, Ziegler Tire needed a man who had the vision to see what the company could become and the business acumen to make it happen. That man is Bill Ziegler, Modern Tire Dealer magazine’s 2009 Tire Dealer of the Year. Ziegler shares his company’s colorful story in the September 2009 edition of MTD, the tire industry’s leading business-to-business publication.
MTD’s Tire Dealer of the Year award is the tire industry’s most prestigious honor. Some 33,000 independent tire dealers throughout North America are eligible for it each year.
Ziegler is the magazine’s 17th Tire Dealer of the Year. He was chosen by a panel of independent judges, who based their decision on his business success, marketing skill, management ability, industry knowledge and community involvement.
Giving back the community has always been a Ziegler Tire practice. In May, the company introduced its “Our community, our commitment” program, which provides free oil changes, flat repairs and other preventive automotive services for people who have lost their jobs. “No matter what you sell product-wise, you’re still dealing with people,” says Ziegler. “It all comes back to that. If you relate to somebody and look at things from his or her perspective, you will be successful.”
Modern Tire Dealer also is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. The award-winning publication is owned by Bobit Business Media, a Torrance, Calif.-based media solutions company.
